“The Bourne Ultimatum” scored the biggest film opening for August with $70.2 million, taking over “The Simpson’s Movie.” It is the third film in the ‘Bourne’ series and is number one at the box office. ‘Ultimatum’ exceeds the ticket sales from the first two films, “The Bourne Identity” and “The Bourne Supremacy.”
Matt Damon stars in the movie as Jason Bourne, a CIA hit man who is searching for the truth about his past. “The Bourne Identity” took in $27.1 million and “The Bourne Supremacy” took in $52.2 million.
‘Ultimatum’ takes the title of biggest opening ever for the month of August.
“This is beyond all of the special-effects films that are in the marketplace. It offered a different kind of entertainment that’s very satisfying,” said the president of domestic distribution for Universal, Nicki Rocco.
