Police have yet to name any suspects in Saturday’s execution style killing of three friends behind a Newark, New Jersey elementary school.
A 19-year-old woman was also shot and sustained knife wounds to her head but survived the attack. The four victims were in a parking lot behind the Mount Vernon School when they were approached by a group of men.
According to Newark Police Director Garry McCarthy the four communicated through text messages that they should leave but they never had the chance. The gunmen first shot Natasha Aerial, 19, and then led the three remaining victims, Terrance Aerial, 18, Ofemi Hightower, 20, and Deshawn Harvey, 20, down an alley.
Each of the men were lined against a wall and forced to kneel at which time they were shot in the head.
The motive for the attack is believed to be robbery, none of the victims had a criminal record and each had planned on attending Delaware State University in the fall.
Authorities have issued a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the attackers.
