Madonna’s adoption trouble continues

Madonna’s adoption troubles continue as an official was denied permission to travel to Britain to assess whether Madonna and her husband, film director Guy Richie, is suitable to adopt the Malawi boy, David Banda.

Last October Madonna was granted custody of the then 13-month-old boy after his father gave him up for adoption when his mother died. The Minister of Women and Child Development, Kate Kainja, prevented Penstone Kilembe from making the trip to Britain to assess Madonna, because Kainja believes that Kilembe obtained an air ticket from Madonna without government permission.

“We have already contacted Madonna that someone else and not Kilembe will come assess her, because we feel Mr. Kilembe personalized the whole issue when other people can go,” Kainja said. Kilembe denies that he asked Madonna for the air ticket.

“What this means is that the whole adoption process may crumble and David sent back to his village,” Kilembe says.

Jusitn Dzonzi led a human rights group in protesting Madonna’s adoption of David. He claims that the Malawi law forbids international adoption.
