Rudy Giuliani Takes Criticism Over 9/11

September 11th, 2001 was a day that all Americans will remember in shock and dismay. Many conspiracy theories have circulated regarding this matter, but one ting still remains thousands of people lost their lives on that day. Many people feel that then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani could have done more to protect not only the business men and women, but the rescue workers that were there. Rudy Giuliani is now running in the 2008 presidency race.

Giuliani is being blamed for housing an emergency command center in the World Trade Centers, as it was bombed several years earlier. He also takes the blame for lack of radio gear that could have helped saved lives. Firefighters filed reports of radio gear not working properly after the first bombing in 1993. Unfortunately, the radio problems were not corrected, and many feel that this lead to the deaths of 121 firefighters that were not give adequate notice to evacuate the north tower, after the south tower crumbled.

Giuliani stated that new radios were given to the rescue teams in New York earlier that year, but were too complicated to continue using and were taken back. Mayor Rudy Giuliani informed an independent commission looking into the situation, that he was confident having the rescue squads in the World Trade Towers, as there were CIA, Secret Services and other agencies within the buildings.

Mayor Giuliani is currently running as a Republican candidate in the presidential election. Recent polls do not show that Giuliani has a favorable position currently, with voters. It appears that he did not fair well in the first debate and with many ideas on how he should have dealt with issues regarding 9/11, he may be receiving a considerable amount of criticism from voters.
