Tiger Woods Apologizes for “Irresponsible and Selfish Behavior,” Says “I Have a Long Way to Go”

Tiger Woods appeared before a select group of media, family and friends on Friday morning, openly apologizing for what he called “irresponsible and selfish behavior,” behavior that included multiple affairs that developed into one of the biggest sex scandals in recent memory.

Woods’ life unraveled last November following a late-night car accident that became the stimulant for a series of allegations and accusations that the world’s greatest golfer had been carrying on a number of affairs. Those allegations and accusations were quickly confirmed as Woods admitted to “transgressions” but on Friday he was more direct, saying “I was unfaithful. I had affairs. I cheated. What I did was unacceptable and I am the only person to blame.”

Speaking inside the TPC Sawgrass, home of the PGA Tour, Woods apologized directly to his wife Elin, his business partners, fans, friends and the PGA, stating “I know I have bitterly disappointed all of you.” While he issued an apology to Elin, she was not in attendance on Friday.

In addressing talk concerning his return to golf Woods said he would continue his indefinite break from the sport and was unsure of when he would be back on the PGA Tour. Woods did say “When I do return, I need to make my behavior more respectful of the game.”
