Tiger Woods issued a televised apology for numerous extramarital affairs that came to the surface in November. After the media frenzy and individual struggles he has endured, Woods isn’t certain when he’ll return to competitive golf though doesn’t rule out that it may be as early as this year.
"I am deeply sorry for my irresponsible and selfish behavior," Woods said in his address. "I was unfaithful. I had affairs. I cheated. What I did was not acceptable."
Whether his apology will be sufficient public atonement for the golfer to regain his sponsorship deals remains to be seen.
Woods spoke for approximately 13 minutes on Friday before a group of roughly 40, including journalists and his mother. Woods’ wife, Elin, was notably absent from the speech at the TPC Sawgrass, where the PGA Tour takes place.
