Schick Releases 5-Blade Razor to Compete with Gillete

Financial World News Update by Equities Magazine

Energizer Inc. announced a plan to release a new line of Schick razors, dubbed the Hydro, in April of this year. The latest move comes only one week after main rival, Gillette told people to expect an improved version to their Fusion razor.

The Hydro will come equipped with between three and five blades depending on the model and will coincide with the release of a shave gel under the same name, the company revealed at an investor conference Friday.

The Hydro, like many higher end razors, will come with skin protectors. Unlike most razors though, the protectors will be placed between the blades for a smoother shave and to minimize the likelihood of cuts. A moisturizing and lubricating gel reservoir and a trimmer are also new features for Schick.

The exact selling price for the razor was not released at the investor conference though they said it would be pricier than their current high-end model, the four-bladed Quattro.

Gillette’s five-blade razor, the Fusion ProGlide unveiled last week for June release will be priced at $10.99.
