Detroit Tigers flame thrower Joel Zumaya is on the recovering back to the Tigers depleted bull pen.
Manager Jim Leyland said Joel Zumaya threw really well Tuesday in the bullpen.
On Friday, Zumaya is due to throw with batters standing not swinging at any of his pitches.
Zumaya last season was a big reason the Tigers made it to the world series last season with his ability to reach as high as 103 mph with his fastball.
Zumaya went on the DL May 3 after injuring the middle finger on his pitching hand, which required surgery.
The Detroit Tigers have had lost 10 of 11 prior to their two victories over last place team Tampa, mainly because of the struggles of their bullpen.
Manager Jim Leyland has really struggled to piece together the bullpen since Zumaya first went on the DL resulting in a lot of late inning losts.
Tiger Fans soon expect Zumaya to take full hold on the closer's role next season with Todd Jones becoming a free agent after this season.
With his talent and potential, Padres Trevor Hoffman all-time saves record is only temporary.
Only time will tell if that becomes the reality but there is no doubt, Zumaya has everyone looking at the scoreboard when he comes in the game, waiting for the almost certain Thriple digit pitch offering.
