Matt Morris Homecoming back to San Francisco

Matt Morris can make the drive to AT&T Park mindlessly, having done it for over one and a half seasons

The start for Morris presents a homecoming of sorts.

Not that Morris truly calls San Francisco home, but it's the city where he pitched from the beginning of the 2006 season until July 31, when he surprisingly learned that he had been traded to Pittsburgh.

Morris, who turned 33 on Thursday, made an impressionable debut as a Pirate last Saturday, working into the seventh and allowing five runs but only four of them being earned.

The Pirates will welcome a return to AT&T Park, a place where they have found prolonged success over the last few years.

Since 2004, the Pirates are 8-2 with a 2.33 team ERA at the Giants home ballpark.

Three of those wins came last season during a month in which the Pirates won just eight games total.

Morris will likely be looking for revenge on the team that traded him and will be out to prove that they made a big mistake.
