Sixty-one stars were removed from the Hollywood Walk of Fame Thursday to make room for a $500 million hotel-shopping complex project on Hollywood and Vine Streets in Los Angeles, CA. As of right now, stars such as Cary Grant, Frank Sinatra, Charlton Heston and Clark Gable are no longer on the Walk of Fame.
The sidewalk was sloping and needed reconstruction. Eight of the stars crumbled during excavation, but the brass was maintained and the stars will be redone. The stars were placed in a secure warehouse, where they'll remain until the project is completed in 2009.
