Travis Hafner suffering from Sore Knee

Travis Hafner is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his sore left knee Friday.

Hafner exited Wednesday's game early with knee tightness and was not in the lineup Thursday.

Hafner was not in the Indians' starting lineup Thursday night against Chicago after being replaced in the sixth inning of Wednesday's 6-4 loss in 13 innings because of tightness in his knee.

Speaking to reporters before Thursday's game, Hafner said: "I don't think it's anything major, just tightness in the back of my knee. I'm not able to run right now."

Hafner is hitting .254 (99-for-390) with 18 homers and 70 RBI in 109 games. He's hitting .225 (20-for-89) with four homers and 13 RBI since the All-Star break.

The Indians will need Hafner bat in the line up on an everyday basis if they believe to have any shot at holding off the defending American League Champion Tigers.
