Two days after Wily Mo Pena said that he hopes to be traded by the Red Sox, his agent said Thursday that Pena wants to remain in Boston.
"His preference would be to stay in Boston and to help the team win a World Series this year," agent Josh Zeide said.
While Pena clearly wants to play on a more regular basis, and would view any potential deal in a positive light if it meant helping jump-start his career, the 25-year-old has made it clear that he prefers to remain with the Red Sox.
Doubts regarding Pena’s future will continue to swirl over the next few days as Bobby Kielty plays for Triple-A Pawtucket on a contract that has an out if he isn’t called up to the Sox within a week.
