Cubs without Aramis Ramirez for Now.

Aramis Ramirez, who was scratched Wednesday's due to fluid buildup in his wrist, should return to the starting lineup early next week.

There's no tear, no break," manager Lou Piniella said. "I don't know exactly how long he'll be out, but it's not a DL.

Ramirez was given a cortisone injection to ease the pain and isn't expected to play until at least Sunday.

The fluid resides in the wrist below Ramirez's pinkie finger, and was caused by the violence of his swing, according to the Cubs trainers.

Ramirez will be in Denver with the team Friday.

There's a slight possibility he could return to action Sunday, although the Cubs are likely to take a more conservative approach and wait a couple of extra days.

Without both Ramirez and Soriano, the Cubs lineup is very less intimidating for opposing pitchers to pitch to.
