Kenny Rogers and Joel Zumaya News

Kenny Rogers (elbow) was happy with how his game of catch went Saturday, but there is no word on when he might pitch next.

The Gambler has been out the past two weeks with elbow inflammation.

He's still about two weeks from rejoining the Tigers rotation.

Joel Zumaya, who has been out of action since early May because of a torn tendon in his right middle finger, is expected to begin a rehab assignment this week.

"Oh yeah, I felt really good," said Zumaya.

"I could have been a lot wilder.

I'll try to find a little bit more breaking stuff, and I'll be fine."

Manager Jim Leyland expects Zumaya to pitch three one-inning stints before he would rejoin the team.
