Fernando Rodney is back to pitching the way he was in 2006.
For the third time in four outings since coming off the disabled list, the Tigers brought in Rodney to start the eighth inning on Saturday night.
For the third time, he finished it out without a hit or a run allowed.
He's obviously healthy right now," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. "
When Rodney came back from the DL a week ago, Leyland wanted to use him exclusively in the setup role -- ahead of closer Todd Jones.
He hasn't allowed a hit in his four innings of work, and he has retired the last 10 batters he has faced since allowing his only base runner -- a walk in his return last Sunday against the White Sox.
"If you throw your fastball for strikes, it's difficult for the hitters," Rodney said.
Now all the Tigers need is Zumaya back and they will have a strong bullpen again.
