Mets win vs Florida

Met had a much needed win against the Marlins Sunday.

Their 10-4 victory, only their second victory in the now-completed six-game homestand, assured them of retaining a lead of at least 2 1/2 games in the National League East.

Their bullpen, responsible for the losses in the first two games of the series, provided four scoreless innings, two by Jorge Sosa and one each by Aaron Heilman and Billy Wagner.

Alou put the Mets ahead permanently in the sixth innining, when he hit his seventh home run against Lee Gardner, the first reliever to follow rookie starter Rick VanderHurk, who completed five innings.

Delgado hit his 18th following a leadoff walk to David Wright in the eighth inning against left-handed reliever Taylor Tankersley. Seven of the Mets runs scored on four home runs, which equaled their season high.

Sosa (8-6) gained the victory, putting the record of the Mets bullpen at 18-11.

Perez was ineffective again, surrendering a home run to his first batter, Hanley Ramirez, and giving up three runs in the third, when the Mets were guilty of two wild pitches and a play not made at the plate.
