Manager Ron Gardenhire said Sunday that he expects Jason Kubel (oblique) to miss "significant time."
Kubel hasn't been placed on the disabled list yet, but figures to be replaced on the roster by either Lew Ford or Garrett Jones, furthering weakening the Twins' already punchless offense.

"When you pull a muscle in there, for me, it's always been a couple weeks at least."
Kubel said he hurt himself with his second-to-last swing Saturday.
He said it hurt to breathe at first, though he could at least do that without pain Sunday.
"I don't know what to expect, but hopefully it gets better," Kubel said.
The Twins barely have any power as it is and it looks like this might not be a comeback year from them after all.
