The mother of Heisman Trophy candidate and Arkansas running back Darren McFadden says her son is entering the NFL Draft at the end of the season. The true junior for Little Rock, AR would forgo his senior season to enter the 2008 NFL Draft. This news come at a surprise, not because he isn't good enough to go early, but because it is announced before the season even starts.
McFadden and Arkansas coach Houston Nutt both said that they are focused on this season and that this season will determine if he goes pro or not.
McFadden was second in the Heisman Trophy race last season behind Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith, rushing for 1,647 yards and 15 rushing touchdowns, setting the single-season school rushing record. The 6-foot-2, 210 pound running back also caught one touchdown and threw three touchdowns out of the infamous "Wild Hog" formation with Arkansas.
He is the frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy this season and is also considered the best pro prospect in the 2008 NFL Draft.
