Detroit Tigers second baseman Placido Polanco just completed his 144th consecutive game without an error, setting a Major League record for second baseman. Luis Castillo set the record of 143 games from May 30, 2006 to June 5, 2007, while playing for the Minnesota Twins. The major league record for consecutive errorless games by any infielder is 193, set by Steve Garvey.
Polanco was the AL Championship Series MVP last season, helping to send the Tigers to the World Series for the first time since 1984. He is currently batting .344 with seven homers and 55 RBIs.
