Ving Rhames was out of the country at the time a man’s body, identified as Jacob Adams, was found in his yard. At first police believed that the man was mauled to death by four of Rhames dogs, but a LA County Coroners report rules out that cause of death, saying it was something else that killed the man.
Adams was the dogs’ caretaker and had lived at Rhames’ house. He was found with bite marks all over his face and neck. The coroner says that the marks on his upper body caused by the dogs were “most likely not fatal.” The cause of death won’t be known until the toxicology test results come back. Previous reports have said the man may have died of a heart attack while being chased by the dogs. Animal control took the four dogs into custody and tested them for rabies and other dangerous diseases.
Rhames issued a statement about Adams’ death saying: “I was out of the country when this shocking and terrible tragedy occurred on my property. Jacob Adams was not just a devoted employee – he was also a dear friend. I want to offer my heartfelt condolences to his family. I am relieved to know that the coroners report confirmed that my dogs were not the cause of his death – and that any wounds found on his body were superficial. I would appreciate the media’s privacy for me and my family during this difficult time.”
Rhames is known for starring alongside Tom Cruise in all three "Mission Impossible" films.
