2010 Winter Olympics Results Speedskating 1,500M Finals: Mark Tuitert Grabs Gold for Netherlands, Shani Davis Picks Up Silver Again
Mark Tuitert did his country proud on Saturday night, blistering the ice and capturing gold for Netherlands in the men’s speedskating 1,500M finals at the 2010 Winter Olympics. The win was the first Olympic medal for the 29-year-old Dutchman who had to settle for fifth place in the men’s 1,000M earlier.
While Tuitert was taking the gold American Shani Davis repeated as Olympic silver medalist in the 1,500M, just edging Norway’s Havard Bokko by .03 seconds. Davis took gold in the 1,000M earlier and his silver medal on Saturday was almost as impressive.
Bokko missed the silver by just a fraction of a second but did walk away with his first Olympic medal, taking the podium to receive bronze.
