Chris Sampson, on the disabled list with an elbow sprain, is scheduled to throw a brief bullpen session on Tuesday.
Sampson is about a week to 10 days from returning from the disabled list.
Adam Everett, who is out with a fractured fibula, took batting practice on the field for the first time since his injury.
"I'm going in the right direction," Everett said.
"I'm progressing and not regressing, which is good.
Every day seems to be getting a little better."
Everett remains on pace for an early September return from the disabled list.
Craig Biggio will be out of the starting lineup until at least Thursday for scheduled rest.
He will continue to rest when the Astros are on the road and play a majority of the games while at home.
