Joel Zumaya (finger) made his first minor league rehab appearance Monday at Triple-A.
Zumaya retired two of the three batters he faced and was clocked as high as 94 miles per hour with his fastball.
That sounds impressive, of course, but it's actually 4-6 miles per hour below where he typically works when healthy.
"It was his first time out, and he was a little rusty.
You could tell," Toledo manager Mike Rojas said.
"He looked fine and feels good, so that's the best news."
Barring a setback, Zumaya could come off the disabled list as soon as next week.
Kenny Rogers (elbow) played long toss Monday and said afterward that it was "very, very encouraging."
"I'm not ready for the mound yet, but it's a lot different, a lot better", Rogers Said.
