Mitt Romney Polls Well, Vows Voters Will Get To Know Him Better

During Mitt Romney’s recent campaign trip through Florida drew to a close, he cam away with money and party support but not much in the way of voter recognition. His spot in the polls for the Republican nomination for president is still in the single-digits but he claims he has the money and some big-name supporters that will help change that in this southern state.

Since Florida moved the state’s primary election to January 29th, its importance in the primary process also moved forward. Florida could be on of the first big states that can help, or demolish a political campaign. With over a dozen candidates announced as seeking the nomination, Romney is taking off the gloves to begin battle with the current Republican front-runners, Rudy Giuliani and John McCain.

While his campaign kicked off with the name recognition of the other national leaders, he has been meeting with citizens and potential supporters in town hall style meetings, letting his position on many of the issues become known. He has only visited Florida about a dozen times, but has made over 200 appearance in Iowa help get the name recognition he needs to have any hope of moving up in the polls.

He considers himself a strict conservative, often comparing himself to the conservative nature of former president Ronald Reagan and is touting his career as a business leader as being the candidate that has the business acumen to get the job done in Washington. He also said understaffing the Iraq war after the fall of Saddam Hussein was the biggest mistake made during the conflict.

> The latest American Research Group poll has Mitt Romney polling at 16%, a strong second behind Rudy Giuliani in the national race.
