Anthem Blue Cross has been in the spotlight for their projected 39 percent premium increases, with California lawmakers and President Obama heavily criticizing the company.
Now reports are coming in of hikes in the 69 percent range. Huntington Beach, California-based attorney Lori Creasey told reporters that she received notices last year for the policies she bought for her college-age sons—one which rose 69 percent and the other 65 percent.
Anthem recently released a statement that said: "Anthem regularly evaluates its rate structure to make sure that the cost of claims incurred is offset by the premiums collected, and that we anticipate the cost of future, expected claims.”
