2010 Winter Olympics Results Alpine Skiing Men’s Super Combined Finals: Bode Miller Earns First Gold with Huge Slalom Run
Bode Miller finally captured his first Olympic gold medal, putting to rest the demons of 2006 as he finished atop the podium in the men’s alpine skiing super combined on Sunday.
Miller put down a 51.01 time in the slalom, the third fastest time, and that coupled with his 1:53.91 time on the downhill was good enough for gold. The American edged Croatia’s Ivica Kostelic who had been in front of Miller prior to the slalom run.
Kostelic finished with silver while Switzerland’s Silvan Zurbriggen grabbed bronze.
For Miller the 2010 Winter Olympics has erased the disastrous memories of Torino in 2006 when he failed to earn a single medal. In 2002 Miller snagged two silver medals but in Vancouver he surpassed that feet with a silver in the men’s super-g, a bronze in the men’s downhill and now gold in the super combined.
