This week, Toyota Motor president Akio Toyoda will testify before a congressional committee about the vehicle recalls.
Toyota’s global recall has ballooned to 8.5 million cars and trucks. The company has been going full speed ahead on a campaign to save the company’s reputation, running apologetic TV ads and working with layers and lobbyists.
Toyoda announced his upcoming appearance in front of Congress on Friday with the following statement: "I have received Congressman Towns' invitation to testify before the [committee] on Feb. 24 and I accept. I look forward to speaking directly with Congress and the American people." He added that he is looking forward to explain matters “in all sincerity” to the Congress.
