Tim Donaghy, the former NBA referee accused of betting on games, pled guilty to two felony charges leveled against him on Wednesday and could be facing a maximum of 25 years in prison.
While Donaghy has been accused of placing bets on NBA games, the two charges he pled guilty to involved conspiracy to engage in wire fraud as well as transmitting waging information through interstate commerce.
Donaghy was also ordered to pay a $500,000 fine and more than $30,000 in restitution for his involvement in the betting scandal.
An NBA referee for 13 seasons, Donaghy resigned in July amidst reports that he was being investigated by the FBI.
