Rangers Agree to Deal with First Round Pick Julio Bordon

While the Rangers still haven't announced it, supplemental first-round pick Julio Borbon agreed to a minor league contract prior to the midnight deadline.

A major league deal seems like quite a reach here, but then again, it's not the first time the Rangers have caved when dealing with a Scott Boras client.

Borbon could be the club's center fielder of the future.

Since a major league deal requires approval from both the commissioner's office and the Players' Association, there is an extra level of paperwork involved.

And since many members of the commissioner's office were traveling to Toronto last evening for an ownership meeting, not all paperwork got taken care of last night.

Borbon's deal is apparently not the only situation that is still awaiting approval, so the Rangers aren't the only team to not have finalized their draft list 11 hours after the deadline.
