Edgar Renteria (sprained ankle) is healing faster than expected and he could return from the disabled list early next week.
He's coming along real good, better than expected," manager Bobby Cox said.
"I don't know if he can play [Saturday], but shortly thereafter probably."
Renteria was placed on the DL on Aug. 3.
Renteria is among the league leaders in average after the sixth inning (.349) and with runners in scoring position (.348).
