It was only a year ago in December 2008 when Narconon Suncoast opened its 21 bed facility in central Florida. The Department of Children and Family Services (DCF) did its routine inspection as it does for any drug rehab facility and Narconon Suncoast received one of the highest scores ever given to a new facility. Additionally, they were approved as a treatment vendor by the Department of Corrections.
With the official licensing in place Narconon Suncoast began delivering the Narconon program to drug and alcohol addicts. During the first 10 months of operation they had 19 graduates. Many stories of great success were written by clients as they moved through the program telling of life-changing occurrences that help them to permanently recover from their addictions to drugs.
As one student stated, "I came into Narconon Suncoast] a broke down person who had no control or power over choice. After just a couple of months that feel like weeks you feel as if you have never even done drugs before. I feel better than I have ever felt in my entire life. It's not just drugs that got handled, it was my life. Instead of doubting myself I know I can now achieve all my goals. This was the best decision I have ever made. I have my life back!"
And this is just one of many successes the program has produced throughout the year.
Narconon Suncoast delivers complete drug detoxification, education and rehabilitation program. As a proactive stance against drugs they have also been active in the community in drug prevention and sponsored a social reform anti-drug event which was attended by many community and state leaders. The center has even gotten drug prevention and education materials into all Hernando County schools to prevent children and teens from getting caught in the trap of substance abuse.
Most of all the treatment facility has been and continues to be a safe haven for someone struggling with a drug or alcohol problem. As one Florida state licensing group reported, "The facility promotes easy access and a comfortable atmosphere conducive to therapeutic interaction,” and then awarded Suncoast Rehabilitation Center with a 100% compliance rating for all relevant statute and administrative codes.
The Narconon program has been successfully rehabilitating substance abusers since 1966 and achieves an over 70% success rate of permanent recovery and has helped more than 25,000 addicts successfully overcome addiction by using a unique method of treatment that handles both the mental and physical aspects of addiction.
As one student put it, “In searching for a rehab detox program I knew that I did not want a 12-step program. What I needed was a program that took a biophysical approach; one that would use sauna as an actual detox method to rid the body of toxins. I found that approach here in Florida at Suncoast Rehab...past actions are no longer affecting how I perceive and respond to life, I feel unburdened and eager to get on with life.”
Narconon Suncoast has achieved a remarkable level of success in its first year of operation both from the State and student standpoint.
