U.S. Olympic Hockey Team Defeats Canada

U.S. Continues Success in Vancouver

The U.S. Men’s Olympic Hockey Team pulled off a surprising victory against Canada on Sunday. The victory was surprising because the Canadian team is a favorite and it was expected that they would make it into the medal round rather easily. But if the game against the U.S. is any indication of where they need to be, the Canadian team will need to step up their game in order to achieve what could be a very satisfying Gold medal for Canada, the host of 2010’s Winter Olympics. Ryan Miller, goaltender from the Buffalo Sabres, made an amazing 42 saves to help the U.S. team defeat a lineup that included such greats as Sidney Crosby. A Gold medal would be great for Canada, whose national hockey team hasn’t won Gold since 2002, but it would be even greater for the U.S. team, which has not seen gold since 1980.
