SuperCamp announced today that their 7- and 10-day academic summer camps are filling up for Summer 2010.
Founded in 1982, SuperCamp, a summer enrichment program for teens, was created based on eight key principles. Each day of the 7- and 10- day programs is dedicated to these principles, which the program refers to as the 8 Keys of Excellence. These principles include Integrity, Failure Leads to Success, Speak with Good Purpose, This Is It, Commitment, Ownership, Flexibility, and Balance.
Students need sufficient preparation for future adult lives full of responsibility. Many teen programs and youth development programs provide study skills and test-taking tips, but fail to help a student integrate academic work with personal time.
SuperCamp offers unique guidance through “real-life” activities and a comfortable social environment designed to help students transcend the challenges thrown at them. Students can be the masters of their own fate. Accumulating responsibilities won’t bring fun and enjoyment to a screeching halt when students are able to effectively manage their time.
One motive that keeps parents and teens enrolling in this summer enrichment program is its 28-year history, and the results seen in and achieved by the students who attend. Studies have shown that the majority of SuperCamp graduates increase grades in the year following camp. Additionally, a recent survey of over 150 SuperCamp grads indicated that 88 percent of them attend college immediately after high school versus the national average of 65 percent of high school grads.
Among teen summer camps, SuperCamp also does an outstanding job of preparing high school students for college with the life skills portion of the curriculum. These life skills complement the academic skills the students also acquire at SuperCamp. The life skills help students develop their communication and leadership skills and provide them with principles to live by in the form of the 8 Keys of Excellence. The program also offers the year-round support SuperCamp grads receive, which includes video tutorials and an on-call SuperCamp facilitator.
SuperCamp has worked with over 50,000 students from all over the world and taught them how to hold themselves accountable through their own integrity in all aspects of their lives.
