The duPont REGISTRYTM hosted its once-a-month Cars and Coffee this past Saturday, February 20. This event is held on the third Saturday of every month between 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in the parking lots of the headquarters for the duPont REGISTRYTM, just south of Ulmerton Road on Tech Drive (intersection of 34th Street and Ulmerton).
The event gives car lovers an opportunity to have their morning coffee while displaying their treasured automobiles and talk about cars with other car enthusiasts.
“There’s nothing like at a quarter to seven when it’s still dark and the cars start rolling in, revving their engines, yet all you see are the headlights,” said Carol Bressler, advertising coordinator for duPont REGISTRYTM.
This Saturday, at least 500 people were in attendance. “These aren’t people that just parade around, but people that really love cars,” said Steve Beyer, a Cars and Coffee attendee for almost a year. “I like it that it’s early—it tells you that the people out here really want to be here. And I like that it’s a car show with every different kind of car.”
More than 300 show cars were on display—everything from a ’69 Dodge Charger to a brand new Ferrari.
“It’s my first time, and it’s exciting,” said Gil DiGiannantonio, co-founder of Hooters. “It’s an adult toy land.”
“We are having so much fun hosting our car-crazy friends and their automobiles,” said Tom duPont, publisher of the duPont REGISTRYTM. “It’s a great way to get an early start on your weekend, and it leaves you the rest of the day to get done those things that are scheduled for Saturday like: kids’ sports, golf, running errands and household chores!”
