LaDainian Tomlinson Released by Chargers

After playing for 9 seasons with the San Diego Chargers, LaDainian Tomlinson is now a free agent. On Monday afternoon, the Chargers released Tomlinson, a move that was anticipated by the 30 year running back for at least a month now. In 2001, he was drafted by the Chargers, and he would go on to set a number of impressive records. He currently holds the all-time NFL records for most single season touchdowns, most points scored in a single season, and fewest games needed to achieve 150 touchdowns. As a Charger, he rushed for 12,490 yards in 9 seasons and rushed for 138 touchdowns. Team president Dean Spanos laments the decision, but Tomlinson’s numbers have been declining. His contract was reworked last offseason in hopes that he could redeem himself, but he was apparently unable to do so.
