While MoveOn.org is busy fighting against John McCain to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars, Hillary Clinton has her own nemesis to deal with. The Illinois and Michigan Republican Parties time and again launched fundraisers and the results are numerous contributions of money that are being used to campaign against her. The Illinois also has the questionable honor of having bankrolled a campaign against Barack Obama at the same time. The Michigan Republican Party is also against the former First Lady and Mr. Obama; of course, this is the same outfit that in the past has invested money in the campaign of Ralph Nader and others.
It is questionable whether these expenditures are having any notable outcome at this time but the fact remains that the next time you visit a grocery store and are accosted in the parking lot by a clean shaven student handing you a pamphlet on Mrs. Clinton's stand on abortion or Mr. Obama's position on the war, the odds are good that at least some of the cost that was incurred in printing the glossy brochures was indeed bankrolled by any one of these outfits. When taking a look at the USA Election Polls website, it becomes obvious that Mrs. Clinton's numbers are strong, even though in some polls she is slipping, while Mr. Obama is falling further and further behind. Is this the result of a conservative smear campaign or simply a lack of appeal to the democratic voter who is changing her or his allegiance to a different candidate?
