RudyCare DOA?

Voters know all about what republicans have dubbed “HillaryCare.” A governmental form of universal healthcare that will make sure that even the poorest of the poor have insurance coverage and access to health and human services – or so the slogan goes. Yet while republicans scoff, thus far they have failed to come up with a comparable plan – until now. Already dubbed “RudyCare” by democrats, the idea is simple: Rudy Giuliani proposes to offer tax exemptions for individuals and families in order to give back a bit of money for those who are using the health care system.

Decrying the notion that a government that can barely come to you aid in the case of a hurricane most certainly should not be trusted when you are on life support, Giuliani proposes that individuals need to take care of their own health coverage needs and no longer rely on employers or wait for the government to come up with a plan.

While his goal is to drive down insurance and medical costs through a free market approach, the fact that the entire health care industry is mired in corruption, over-regulation, and abuse by patients as well as physician fraud does little to entice voters to see it Rudy's way. As a matter of fact, polls in states where a universal healthcare plan would be welcomed, such as Iowa and also Florida showcase that his numbers are gradually dwindling. USA Election Polls shows that his numbers in Iowa dropped from 23.7% in January to barely 11% in August. Florida's slide was more gradual, showing him slip from 30% in January of 2007 to 28% in August. Is RudyCare DOA?
