Most websites tuned into the 2008 presidential election know that there is a whole host of candidates that have less effect on the election than the ripples created by a drop of water falling into the Atlantic Ocean. Yet Steve Kubby, renowned libertarian politician and medical marijuana user is an exemption to the rule. While not even USA Election Polls has picked up Kubby's blip on the radar screen, those who know him from his past political endeavors are once again gearing up for a run.
While his fundraising efforts are in no way a match for the democratic and republican power players, he is vowing to put the $6,215 he collected as of 06-30-07 to good use spreading the message of the Libertarian Party and seeking those who will listen in a variety of campaign stops. He has wrangled over time with the American courts in an effort to legalize the use of medical marijuana and also to overturn a conviction that resulted in his being declared a fugitive from justice without his knowledge.
While the legal issues were resolved, Mr. Kubby is once again fighting in an election battle he knows he will lose, yet this time around he has also thrown his support behind Ron Paul, the much talked about republican candidate who thus far is only finding single digit support, according to the statistics listed on the USA Election Polls site. While Mr. Paul in all honesty is much to libertarian for the Republican Party, it is doubtful that he will switch his alliances in an effort to run on the Libertarian ticket.
