Buses Collide in Peru, at least 38 People Killed, Several Dozen Injured

A pair of buses collided on one of the busiest main roads in Peru killing at least 38 people and leaving several dozen injured.

 

According to reports the buses collided head-on while traveling along the Panamerican Highway about 310 miles north of the capital of Lima. Each bus was said to be carrying between 70 and 80 people when the accident occurred.

 

Police said each bus was traveling at a high rate of speed when they slammed into each other. Both buses were completely destroyed in the accident and rescue workers were having difficulty pulling victims from the vehicles.
