On the Warpath With Elizabeth Edwards

Not only are the candidates themselves people to watch out for, but their spouses are as well. Only one can boast being married to a former President, but the others have spouses who are just as accomplished as themselves. The funny thing is, when you get the spouses of important people together in a competitive arena such as say, running for President, they can become less than charming. Elizabeth Edwards, wife of Presidential hopeful John Edwards and cancer survivor, has lashed out against Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton alike. She claims that Obama portrays himself being “holier than thou” on the subject of the Iraq war.

When Obama was on the Illinois State Senate, he claimed to have opposed the war going on in Iraq but now his views have changed so that he has voted for funds for the military. To Hillary Clinton, she says that she has been unsuccessful in letting the American people know her stand on health care and Iraq as well. Since the beginning of her husband's campaign, Elizabeth Edwards has had an opinion of every one of his competitors whether it is good or bad. She says her husband is a much better President for women than Hillary would be, and that Obama and Clinton have the upper hand because they are black and female, respectively. In her opinion, those qualities are on the plus side for her husband's opponent as they draw positive media attention. Perhaps she should run for President in 2012?
