Tom Brady Picked Off Twice as Patriots Fall to Titans

New England quarterback Tom Brady completed 10-19 for 145 yards and a touchdown but was picked off twice as the Patriots fell to the Tennessee Titans 27-24 Friday night.

Brady’s first interception was returned 51 yards by Cortland Finnegan for a touchdown and the Titans took a 7-0 lead. Brady then marched the Patriots back down the field and hit Wes Welker on a 28-yard touchdown pass to even the score 7-7.

The Patriots took a 14-7 lead as Brady once again led his team on a scoring drive that was capped by a Heath Evans 2-yard run midway through the first quarter. Brady played seven series in the game and left with the Patriots in front but took his lumps as he was sacked twice and knocked to the ground several times.

Tennessee’s Vince Young was no stranger to feeling the turf as he was sacked four times in his first exhibition game of the preseason. Young completed just 5-17 passes for 102 yards in the first half.

Kerry Collins came on in the third quarter and brought the Titans to within three after hitting Roydell Williams on a 15-yard touchdown strike. John Vaughn then evened the score at 17-17 after kicking a 31-yard field goal late in the quarter.

Vaugn then split the uprights once again with less than two minutes remaining in the fourth to give the Titans a 27-24 victory.

New England committed four turnovers in the game and managed just 71 yards on the ground with Laurence Maroney missing the contest. It was the second game in a row that Randy Moss missed as well.

The Patriots fell to 0-2 in the preseason while the Titans evened their record at 1-1.
