Donovan McNabb made his return to the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday night and it looked as if the quarterback hadn’t missed a step as he completed 6-9 passes for 138 yards in a 27-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers.
McNabb hadn’t taken a snap since injuring his knee last November but he was impressive in the four series he led the Eagles offense.
David Akers put the Eagles on the board in the first quarter with a 52-yard field goal and then Tony Hunt found the endzone on a 3-yard run to put Philly up 10-0. The Eagles increased their lead to 17-0 after Lito Sheppard pick off Panthers’ quarterback Jake Delhomme and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown.
Tony Hunt then put the Eagles up 24-0 with his second touchdown run of the first half and Philly was cruising. Carolina finally dented the board on a John Kasay 28-yard field goal as time expired in the half.
Carolina’s offense was stalled by three turnovers in the game and couldn’t reach the endzone until quarterback David Carr ran it in from 9-yards out midway through the fourth quarter.
