Elizabeth Edwards Lashed At Clinton, Obama

With her husband Democratic candidate John Edwards trailing behind Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator Barack Obama in the national poll, Elizabeth Edwards is trying her best to get the attention that her husband desperately needs. In an interview which was published in The Progressive magazine early this month, Elizabeth Edwards lambasted Clinton and Obama for their “weak” stand on the issues of Iraq. According to her, Clinton and Obama failed to show strong leadership in this issue. She said that Iraq is one of the most critical issues being faced by the country today and leaders should make a firm stand on this matter. She intimated that her husband who had voted for the authorization of the Iraq invasion in 2002 has better understanding on the situation and should be able to handle these things better compared to Obama and Clinton.

Aside from lambasting Obama and Clinton over the Iraq issue, Elizabeth Edwards said that the two other candidates do not have a strong leadership when it comes to health care. She even called Obama “holier than thou” for his frequent referral to God as his guide for his actions. On the other hand, she said that her husband is a better advocate for women than Clinton.

When asked to comment on the interview of Elizabeth Edwards, the Clinton campaign declined to make any comments. The Obama camp also refused to rise to the bait and did not issue any statement to refute the allegations of Elizabeth Edwards. Apparently, nobody thought that the comments made by Elizabeth Edwards are worth fighting over.
