Clinton, Obama Team Up Unlikely

After a major spat on the issue of Iraq, the possible team up between Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator Barack Obama for the national election in November 2008 seems to be unlikely. During a debate aired at You Tube on the issue of Iraq, Clinton called Obama's stand on foreign policies as “irresponsible and frankly naïve”. Stung by the words of Clinton, Obama fired back at Clinton saying that by putting the lady Senator into the White House, we are just continuing the “Bush-Cheney policies.” Since Clinton happens to be one of the major critiques of the Bush administration, such comment from Obama struck a cord. Towards the end of the debate, Clinton asked “What's ever happened to the politics of hope?”

According to sources, although the Clinton camp may have some regrets for firing the first shot between the two camps, it has no regrets on the effect of that spat on the popularity of Senator Clinton. It must be noted that the popularity of Senator Clinton rose after many Democrats realized that between her and Obama, Clinton has the best experience when it comes to foreign policies. The debate also showed that Clinton is the stronger leader between the two of them and she is more likely to bring in changes in the government compared to Obama.

The sharp exchange between Obama and Clinton on the issues concerning Iraq is one of the first hints that the two candidates are not really getting along well with each other. After the spat, both camps are less likely to continue talks about the Clinton-Obama team up for the coming presidential election.
