If the results of the polls are reliable, Senator Hillary Clinton will most likely win the Democratic nomination of the coming presidential election. Most poll results say that Clinton is way ahead of her major opponents Senator Barack Obama and Senator John Edwards. The possibility that Senator Obama will become the running mate of Senator Clinton is also something that is unlikely to happen. Growing tension between Clinton and Obama had been observed in the past few weeks after Clinton called Obama's stand on foreign policies as irresponsible and naïve.
Although the history of American politics is replete with experiences where bitter rivals in politics team up during the national election, the probability that Clinton and Obama will end up as running mates in the coming election is rather dim. Note that unlike the Ronald Reagan – George H.W. Bush ticket in 1980 where Reagan was forced to take Bush as running mate to mollify the other members of the Party, Clinton may not have to do such ting. Note that Clinton is already a celebrity on her own right and she does not have to give in to any pressures from the Obama camp when the time comes. Many political analysts believe that since the political climate has dramatically shifted in favor of the Democrats early in the race and Clinton undoubtedly has vast influence in the party, Clinton can have her way when choosing her running mate. This means that if she does not like working with Obama, then she can simply say so and get away with it.
