Huckabee's Humor Made Him Popular in the Iowa Straw Poll

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee placed second in the Iowa Straw Poll last Saturday. Thanks to his sense of humor and his guitar playing, the otherwise little known candidate became an instant hit among Republicans who came to the poll. People who were milling around the polling area were attracted to the humor of the presidential candidate that they begun to see him in a new light. With his underdog image and funny disposition, it was indeed a small wonder that he ended up second place in the polls.

Huckabee, an ordained Baptist minister and a former Governor of Arkansas, is one of the underdogs in the Republic nomination. For the pat six months, Mr. Huckabee had endeared himself to a lot of people with his different brand politics which is integrates a lot of laughter's and light moments. While his opponents talk about serious matters like terrorist attacks, he used humor to court voters. He never failed to inject humor when presenting his stand on the different issues that beset the country. He believes that politics does not have to be always painful and that people should not take themselves too seriously at times.

Although humor may not be enough for Mr. Huckabee to win the Republican nomination, he has established himself as one of the household names in the America. It must be noted that in the national polls, Huckabee is still trailing way behind his other opponents. If the results of the polls are taken as indication of who will win the Republican nomination, Huckabee's chance at the presidency is not really bright.
