In his first start since being called up from Triple-A on Monday, J.R. House homered and singled Saturday as the Orioles beat the Blue Jays 5-3.
It's a good thing manager Dave Trembley decided to play some backups today, as House and Tike Redman drove in four of the team's five runs with both Kevin Millar and Jay Payton out of the lineup.
It looked like House was brought up only to play once per week or so, but if he gets hot, he could claim more at-bats.
That's what Redman seems to be doing.
Steve Trachsel won in Toronto by allowing three runs over 6 2/3 innings on Saturday.
Jesse Litsch outpitched Trachsel, but the Orioles played defense and the Jays didn't.
The three unearned runs scored by Baltimore gave Trachsel his first victory since June 8.
With a 2.96 ERA in four starts this month, he might be generating a little trade value.
Danys Baez pitched a perfect ninth in a two-run game Saturday for a save versus the Jays.
Baez struck out pinch-hitter Troy Glaus looking to end the game. It was his second save since Chris Ray went down.
He'll be the Orioles' primary closer going forward.
