Mark Teahen, who left Saturday's game in the eighth inning after suffering a hyperextended shoulder, isn’t expected to play Sunday but expects to be ready Monday when the Royals open a three-game series in Chicago.
"I’m fine," Teahen insisted.
"When I dived for the ball, I just kind of hyper-extended it.
I don’t think I was going to play (today) anyway, but it’s just a little thing, but a big problem."
Ryan Shealy, who was recently optioned to Triple-A Omaha, figured to be in Kansas City's plans when rosters expand on Sept. 1.
Lefty reliever Neal Musser, outfielder Shane Costa and outfielder Justin Huber are also strong options to get "the call."
Craig Brazell, a non-roster player who leads the minors with 36 homers, isn’t likely to be promoted.
