Rehab Program Allows Former Addicts To Change Life

Paul Simmons* never thought that he would be in a position where people looked up to him. Paul spent most of his life addicted to crystal meth, a man-made, highly addictive drug. It wasn’t until Paul enrolled in and completed a drug rehab called Narconon Louisiana, that he was able to lead a life that was worthy of admiration. Changing people’s perceptions on addiction is something that Narconon Louisiana is very familiar with, as this non-traditional program has quickly become a leader in the world of drug and alcohol rehabs.

Outside studies show that the
Narconon program maintains a 76% success rate. One vital component to their ability in getting people to live a drug-free, productive life is a course called The Way To Happiness. The Way To Happiness is a common-sense guide to living that re-introduces an individual to life and what is expected of them from society. For people like Paul, their addiction had effectively removed them from society, and in fact had caused them to be unable to co-exist with sober, productive people.

“I was in my own little world. A world that was consumed with methamphetamine,” explains Paul, who recently graduated from
The Way To Happiness course. “My addiction to crystal meth had made it so not only would I not associate with sober people, but I was afraid of them as well.”

Narconon Louisiana introduces recovering addicts back into society by employing the concepts listed in The Way To Happiness. The book is made up of 21 precepts, like “Set a Good Example”. Students have the ability to learn how important their actions are, and what sort of actions qualify as acceptable. To some, this may seem pretty obvious, however most people that have spent their lives addicted to some sort of substance have to relearn all these activities.

“The Way To Happiness allowed me to realize that sober members of society have rules and morals that they live by. I was scared that after I left rehab I wouldn’t know what to do, I wouldn’t know how to act and that I would end up abusing crystal meth again.” Says Paul. “I can see now that living a sober life is realistic for me and it’s something that I’ve had in me all along. I lost the ability to be sober for awhile, but Narconon Louisiana showed me that I could maintain sobriety and the Way To Happiness course helped me with a transition into society that I had never been able to achieve before.”

A drug and
alcohol addiction can often times seem almost impossible to handle, however Narconon Louisiana has proved that their approach produces results that are effective and long-lasting.
