Dave Magadan and Others Elected to Hall of Fame

Baseball Greats Recognized for College Careers

George Sisler, Dave Magadan, and B.J. Surhoff were among 10 players and coaches who were elected to the College Baseball Hall of Fame on Tuesday. The Hall focuses exclusively on the achievements of players and coaches during their college careers. Sisler, or “Gorgeous George,” first made a name for himself playing for the University of Michigan. He would go on to play for 3 MLB teams and win the American League MVP Award. Dave Magadan, who received the top votes for this year’s Hall of Fame class, played for the University of Alabama and received a variety of honors throughout his college career. His .439 career batting average is the Southeastern Conference record and 10th best in NCAA history. B.J. Surhoff played at North Carolina between 1983 and 1985, and he was the national player of the year in his final season.
